Introduction

This publication contains the information for installation of the kit for the secondary steering group. A complete listing of the parts that are contained in this kit are listed in the Parts Manual, SEBC1464. This supplemental product support literature should be used with the appropriate Service Manual and the appropriate Parts Manual that is available for this standard machine.

Do not perform any procedure and do not order parts that are outlined in this publication until you understand the information that is contained in this document.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal of any component, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Installation of the Secondary Steering Pump and Mounting Group

1. Refer to Illustration 1 for the mounting location. Use the following hardware and install the 265-0857 Bracket As (1) onto the rear frame:
   • Four 8T-4139 Bolts (4)

   • Four 8T-4223 Hard Washers (6)

2. Refer to Illustration 1 for the mounting location. Use the following hardware and install the 313-5855 Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor Gp (2) onto the 265-0857 Bracket As (1) :
   • Four 8T-4195 Bolts (5)

   • Four 8T-4121 Hard Washers (3)

Installation of the Secondary Steering Lines Group

1. Remove hose (A) from the steering lines group.

2. Install the 225-0311 Tee As (10) into the pressure port of the secondary steering pump.

3. Install the 194-2903 Elbow As (9) into the bottom of the 225-0311 Tee As (10) .

4. Install the 269-4952 Adapter (11) into the 194-2903 Elbow As (9) .

5. Connect the straight end of the 282-6736 Hose As (16) into the top of the 225-0311 Tee As (10) .

6. Install a 304-8017 Fitting As (17) onto the check valve (D) .

7. Install the 9T-1013 Check Valve As (Secondary Steering) (6) onto the 304-8017 Fitting As (17) .

8. Connect the ninety degree end of 282-6734 Hose As (14) onto the 304-8017 Fitting As (17) .

9. Connect the other end of the 282-6734 Hose As (14) onto the steering control group.

10. Install a 269-4967 Adapter Elbow (13) into each of the other two ports on the secondary steering pump.

11. Connect one end of the 317-4330 Hose As (18) onto the 269-4967 Adapter Elbow (13) that is on the right hand side of the secondary steering pump.

12. Connect one end of the 282-6735 Hose As (15) onto the 269-4967 Adapter Elbow (13) that is on the left hand side of the secondary steering pump.

13. Route the two hoses to the hydraulic tank.

14. Remove plugs (B) and (C). Replace plugs (B) and (C) with a 269-4962 Adapter Elbow (12) .

15. Connect the other end of the 282-6735 Hose As (15) onto the 269-4962 Adapter Elbow (12) that is mounted on the bottom of the hydraulic tank.

16. Connect the other end of the 317-4330 Hose As (18) onto the 269-4962 Adapter Elbow (12) that is mounted on the front of the hydraulic tank.

17. Use the following hardware and secure the two hoses:
    • One 5G-9603 Spacer (1)

    • Two 8T-4121 Hard Washers (2)

    • One 8T-4136 Bolt (3)

    • One 8T-4194 Bolt (4)

    • One 8T-5005 Bolt (5)

    • Two 100-4336 Clips (7)

    • One 160-8708 Bracket As (8)

Installation of the Secondary Steering Wiring Group

1. Connect one end of the 307-3093 Cable As (6) onto the secondary steering pump. Tighten the nut to 21 ± 1 N·m (15.49 ± 0.74 lb ft).

2. Use the following hardware and connect the other end of the 307-3093 Cable As (6) onto a ground stud on the rear frame:
   • One 8T-4223 Hard Washer (21)

   • One 8T-4244 Nut (22)

3. Slip a 194-4046 Terminal Cover (2) over the ninety degree end of the 307-3095 Cable As (7). Connect the ninety degree end of the 307-3095 Cable As (7) onto the relay that is for the secondary steering pump. Tighten the nut to 8 ± 1 N·m (5.90 ± 0.74 lb ft). Push the 194-4046 Terminal Cover (2) in place over the terminal. Secure the 194-4046 Terminal Cover (2) with a 3S-2093 Cable Strap (15) .

4. Route the 307-3095 Cable As (7) upward to the junction block that is for the battery. Connect the other end of the 307-3095 Cable As (7) onto the junction block that is for the battery.

5. Use the following hardware and secure the 307-3095 Cable As (7) to the rear frame:
   • One 264-3637 Bolt (4)

   • One 2P-7806 Clamp (11)

   • Four 2V-1771 Grommets (12)

   • One 3S-2093 Cable Strap (15)

   • Four 6D-4246 Clips (17)

   • Four 8T-4121 Hard Washers (18)

   • One 8T-4133 Nut (19)

   • Two 8T-4136 Bolts (20)

6. Use two 3K-0360 O-Ring Seal (14) and install the two 313-5104 Pressure Switches (Secondary Steering Oil) (13). Tighten the two 313-5104 Pressure Switches (Secondary Steering Oil) (13) to 75 ± 7 N·m (55.32 ± 5.16 lb ft).

7. Install a 218-4935 Arc Suppressor (3) onto the end of the 307-3087 Steering Harness As (5).

8. Connect the end of the 307-3087 Steering Harness As (5) onto the chassis harness.

9. Use the following hardware in order to secure the 218-4935 Arc Suppressor (3) .
   • Two 130-5300 Clips (8)

   • One 8T-4136 Bolt (20)

   • One 8T-4121 Hard Washer (18)

10. Use the following hardware in order to secure the 307-3087 Harness As (5) onto the frame:
    • Two 7K-1181 Cable Straps (1)

    • Two 5K-3294 Clips (16)

    • One 130-5300 Clip (9)

Install the Relay for the Secondary Steering
