    Typical example

  1. Thoroughly clean the exhaust elbow (3). Check that the joints (6) are not damaged.

Note: If a new exhaust elbow (3) is installed, new studs (4) must be installed on the flange that connects to the turbocharger. Tighten the studs (4) to a torque of 18 ± 4.5 N·m (13.28 ± 3.32 lb ft).

  2. Place the joint (6) onto the studs (4) that are mounted on the exhaust elbow (3). Align the studs (4) to the bolt holes of the turbocharger (5) and insert the studs into the holes. Install the nuts (4). Tighten the nuts (4) finger tight.

  3. Place the joint (6) onto the four studs (2) of the exhaust manifold (1). Align the holes of the exhaust elbow (3) with the exhaust manifold (1). Install the nuts (2) finger tight.

  4. Tighten the nuts (4) to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (3.7 ± 0.7 lb ft).

  5. Tighten the nuts (2) to a torque of 44 ± 11 N·m (32.5 ± 8.0 lb ft).
