Description of Change: Updated track guide guards for D6H, D6R, D6R Series II, and D6R Series III are now available. The bolted track guide guard groups on roller frames with Heavy Duty Track have been changed to a welded guard that is stronger and the welded guard will provide longer service life. When the bolted track guide guard groups need to be serviced, replace the bolted track guide guard groups with the updated welded guard assemblies.

Note: This welded guard assembly is only for D6 tractors with Heavy Duty Track.

Replace the 164-0403 Guard and 164-4611 Guard on the D6R with the parts that are listed in Table 1.

Procedures For Installing the Welded Guard Assembly

Grease is under high pressure.
Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death.
Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.

Loosen the relief valve only one turn.

Loosen the relief valve on the track roller frame by one full turn in order to release tension that is on the track.

Lift the tractor with 4C-5809 Electric Hydraulic Pump Group. Support the tractor with 9U-7540 Lift Stands. The track will sag enough in order to install the welded guards.
