Fuel level circuit |
The components of the fuel level circuit are the fuel level sensor, the fuel level buffer, the Caterpillar Monitoring System, the Engine Electronic Control Module (Engine ECM) and the gauge module.

(3) Fuel level buffer |
With the key start switch in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker 11 to Caterpillar Monitoring System (1) and fuel level buffer (3). 24 volt power is also supplied via circuit breaker 4 and circuit breaker 12 to Engine ECM (2).

Fuel level sensor (4) sends a signal to fuel level buffer (3). The fuel level buffer sends a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to Engine ECM (2). Engine ECM (2) sends a signal to Caterpillar Monitoring System (1) via the CAT Data Link. This signal is sent to quad gauge module (5). The fuel level gauge (6) indicates the fuel level within the tank.
