Oil Filter and Base (Power Train) - Assemble

Assembly Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  1. Install springs (3) and (6). Install spool (2) and adapter (5). Install switch (1) to a torque of 80 ± 10 N·m (59 ± 7 lb ft).

  2. Install filter element (4), O-ring seal (7), and filter housing (8) and tighten to a torque of 55 ± 5 N·m (40.5 ± 3 lb ft). Lubricate the O-ring seal with the lubricant that is being sealed.

End By:

  1. Install the Power Train oil filter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Oil Filter - Remove and Install".
