Description of Change: There is a new turbocharger compressor cover for 3512B Generator Set Engines. The design of the new compressor cover has a four post asymmetric shroud that reduces the stress of the material in the blades of the compressor wheel.
The new compressor cover can be distinguished from the former compressor cover by looking at the compressor cover inlet and identifying the number of posts in the shroud. The new compressor cover has four posts. The former compressor cover has three posts. Refer to Illustration 1.

Adaptable To: The new 245-8449 Cover is used on 3512B Generator Set Engines that are equipped with the 198-9916 Turbocharger Gp. The new 245-8449 Cover is a direct replacement for the 198-9917 Compressor Cover in the 198-9916 Turbocharger Gp. The 245-8449 Cover is now a serviced part. The new cover is adaptable to all of the engines that are listed above.
