AD45 and AE40 II Underground Articulated Trucks Caterpillar

The oil viscosities shown in bold type are the standard oils used in Caterpillar AD45 and AE40 Series ll trucks. If the ambient temperatures you operate in do not fall within the standard oil temperature range, choose an oil that meets the required ambient temperature range.

TDTO/TO-4 SAE 60 is preferred in most applications, particularly continuous operation. If the ambient temperature is below -10 °C (14 °F) warm up the oil prior to operation. Keep the oil above -10 °C (14 °F) during operation. If the ambient temperature is below -10 °C (14 °F) perform the procedure in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential Warm-Up" prior to operation. If the ambient temperature is below -25 °C (-13 °F) consult your Caterpillar dealer for instructions. Failure to warm up the oil prior to operation will cause damage to the machine.
