- To prevent injury, make sure that no one is working on the machine or near the machine. Always maintain control of the machine.
- Raise the bucket or the work tool enough to negotiate any obstacles.
- Before you release the parking brake, depress the service brake pedal in order to keep the machine from moving.
- Drive the machine forward for best visibility and for best control.
- Reduce the engine speed when you maneuver in tight quarters and when you are going over a hill.
Maintain a ground speed that is slow enough for the conditions. Before you operate down a hill, select the proper gear before you start down the grade. The proper gear should allow the machine to maintain the appropriate speed on the down grade. The throttle control should be at high idle and the engine should not overspeed. In most situations, the proper gear will be the same gear that is required to drive up the grade.
The left service brake pedal may be used for downhill braking. The left service brake pedal will downshift the transmission to a lower gear. The left service brake pedal will not downshift the transmission to a lower gear if an engine overspeed would result.
Note: If the machine builds up excessive speed, the engine can overspeed. This can result in damage to the engine and/or damage to the power train data link. Use the service brake in order to slow the machine until a lower gear can be selected. Select the lower gear and proceed with the throttle control at high idle.
Machine Operating Temperature Range
The machine must function satisfactorily in the anticipated ambient temperature limits that are encountered during operation. The minimum limits for items that will affect the safe operation of the machine to be considered are 0-100% relative humidity for -40 °C (-40 °F) to 50 °C (122 °F) temperatures unless otherwise specified in marketing functional specification.
Note: Operation at ambient temperatures above 32 °C (90 °F) should be limited to light duty cycles and short periods of time.
