(1) Solenoid Valve (Transmission Upshift/Downshift)

Tighten valve to ... 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft)

Tighten solenoid nut to ... 9 ± 0.5 N·m (6.6 ± 0.4 lb ft)

Note: For more information, refer to Specifications, "Solenoid Valve (Transmission Upshift/Downshift)".

(2) Torque for four bolts that are marked "X" ... 48 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft)

(3) Torque for bolt ... 48 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft)

(4) Transmission Lubrication Relief Valve

Tighten to ... 85 ± 10 N·m (63 ± 7 lb ft)

Note: For more information on the transmission lubrication relief valve, refer to Specifications, "Selector and Pressure Control Valve (Transmission)".

(5) Torque for five bolts ... 30 ± 4 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft)

(6) Valve Group

Use the following control valves for 314-9942 Transmission Hydraulic Control Groups.

• 314-9940 Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve Gp: Seven-speed with stall feature, effective on FRT00001-00845

• 367-2233 Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve Gp: Seven-speed with stall feature, effective on FRT00846-UP

Use the following control valves for 258-8741 Transmission Hydraulic Control Groups.

• 261-3372 Transmission Control Valve Gp: Eight-speed without stall feature, effective on FRT00001-00845

• 367-2223 Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve Gp: Eight-speed without stall feature, effective on FRT00846-UP

Note: All transmission control valves, 314-9930, 261-3383, and 261-3378 should be modified per Service Magazine, SEPD1360, "Hydraulic Control Modifications for TH48-E80 Petroleum Transmission and SPF343C Pumper Transmission {3074, 3083, 3167}".

Note: The valve group for serial numbers 1-845 will be identical to the valve group for serial numbers 846 and up after updating per service magazine SEPD1360.

Note: The valve group was updated to reduce clutch power and energy during the shift and increase shift speed to reduce transmission output speed drop during shifting.

All of the valves in this group must be tested as a unit. All of the valves in this group must be assembled into the transmission as a unit. Individual parts of this unit may not be interchanged at any time after the unit has been tested. During repair service, individual parts of this group will be furnished.

NOTICE
Do not use any caustic (corrosive) materials in order to clean any parts of this group. Caustic materials will cause corrosion and damage to the parts.

(10) Transmission gear switch

(11) Lubricate the sealing lip with a small amount of the lubricant that is being sealed.

Before you install the lip seal, put a coat of 7M-7260 Liquid Gasket on the sealing bore. Allow the liquid gasket to dry before you install the seal. Do not put any liquid gasket on the lip seal. Install the seal so that the seal lip faces the inside of the component.

(12) When the wiring harness is assembled, the connector must be oriented in the position that is shown.
