Usage:
All 7200 Series Marine Transmissions
Reference: Service Magazine, August 8, 1983, Page 2, "Failure Of Ballstud In Control Valve Can Cause Problem With Control Of Vessel."
Description of Change: A new cover and lever are now used in the control valve group on the above marine transmissions. The new cover and lever will prevent overtravel (too much travel) of the spool in the valve group. As a result, there will be a decrease in the amount of stress put on the ballstud.
Formerly, the cover and lever did not limit the travel of the spool. If an actuator cylinder was not installed correctly by the ship builder, the valve spool could be moved too far. The result was high stress on the ballstud.
Adaptable As: The new 6T6546 Cover and 6T6545 Lever are direct replacements for the former 5L7364 Cover and 5L7365 Lever. The former 5L7364 Cover is canceled.
NOTE: Any time the control valve or actuator cylinder is moved or worked on, the movement of the valve spool, ballstud and linkage must be checked. The valve spool must not bottom out before the lever contacts the "stop dowel" in either ahead or astern position.
