SUPPLEMENT: 11/26/84

SERVICE MAGAZINE, JANUARY 30, 1984, PAGE 3. The article "Correct Wiring And Fuse Must Be Used For Correct Operation Of Shut-Off Solenoid Group" should be changed to read as follows. "The correct fuse to use with these solenoid groups is a Buss® MDL15 Slow-Blow fuse, or equivalent". Also, the illustration of solenoid identification should be changed. The Type A solenoid has guides to aid in alignment of the solenoid during installation. Put a mark through the illustration and make reference to this supplement.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Use of the correct wiring and fuse is necessary to make sure the 6T8021 (12V), 6T8022 (24V) and 6T8023 (32V) Solenoid Groups used on the above engines work correctly. These dual coil solenoid groups are activated-to-run solenoids. Use of the wrong wiring and fuse can cause these solenoid groups to shut off the engine at the wrong time.

The correct fuse to use with these solenoid groups is either a Bussman MDC5, 5A slow blow or equivalent fuse. The wiring to these solenoids must be 14 ga wire. If the wire to the solenoid is longer than 3 m (10'), a heavier gage must be used.

If the solenoid shuts the engine off at the wrong time, even when the correct fuse and wiring is used, check the coil resistance of the solenoid.

There are two types of each solenoid as shown in the illustration. Make sure the correct specifications are used when the solenoid is tested. See the illustration.
