Industrial Power Systems now provides a web based program in order to calculate the cost of rerating an industrial engine. The program will allow you to receive passwords. The program will allow you to order the necessary emissions labels and stickers. This information can be accessed at the Industrial website in Caterpillar Power Net. You may obtain passwords by accessing Technical Marketing Information (TMI) in the Factory Password System.
Note: A charge will be applied for each password. You should not try to obtain passwords for Industrial engines other than through approved sites.
The following table has a guide line for when the FLS/FTS and the "E" trim codes need to be changed.
Changes to the Engine     | FLS/FTS Changes     | "E" Trim     | |
Changes to power setting only     | Change (1)     | No change     | |
Replace injectors only     | No change     | Yes (2)     | |
"Iron" (3) changes without injectors     | Yes (4)     | No change     | |
"Iron" (3) changes with injectors.     | Yes (4)     | Yes (2)     |
( 1 ) | The FLS/FTS must be changed to match the new performance specification number. |
( 2 ) | E Trim must be changed per Disassembly and Assembly manual. Not all injectors have the E trim feature, If the injector does not have an E trim code. Then, the E trim code will not need to be changed. |
( 3 ) | Iron is defined as internal components such as pistons, rings liners, and turbochargers. Iron does not include Injectors. |
( 4 ) | FLS / FTS must be changed to the nominal settings listed in TMI. |
Note: The following could be considered tampering: interfering with the ability to comply with emissions regulations, intentionally altering the approved engine settings and incorrectly labeling the engines.
