Usage:

All 3400 Series Engines

SUPPLEMENT: 04/09/84

SERVICE MAGAZINE, OCTOBER 31, 1983, PAGE 4. In the article "New Valve Lifter Assemblies Used In Valve Mechanism Groups," the information was not complete. The new 4W7108 Valve Lifter Assembly is exactly the same size as the former 6N4589 Valve Lifter Assembly and can be used (mixed) with the former lifters in the same engine.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: New valve lifter assemblies are used in the valve mechanism groups on the above engines. The thrust land on the rollers used in the new valve lifter assemblies is wider and has a surface finish that is smoother than the former rollers.

The new valve lifter assemblies are also a different color. The former valve lifter assemblies have a black oxide surface in comparison to the new valve lifter assemblies that have a shiney surface.

Adaptable As: The new 4W7108 Valve Lifter Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 6N4589 Valve Lifter Assembly, which is canceled.
