Power Train Charge System Pressure - Test and Adjust

Usage:

12M B92

------ WARNING! ------

When testing and adjusting the transmission and power train, move the machine to an area clear of obstructions, with safe exhaust ventilation for the exhausts. Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, do the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the transmission and power train.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from spring force released when removing cap screws.

Internal spring force will be released when cylinder assembly cap screws are removed causing injury.

Always restrain cover as cap screws are loosened.

Follow the established procedure in the Service Manual to service these parts.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Machine Preparation

Reference: Before you perform this procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation".

  1. Operate the machine until the transmission oil is at operating temperature range of 80° ± 10°C (176° ± 18°F).

  2. Stop the machine on a hard level surface. Move the transmission control lever to the NEUTRAL position. Shut off the engine. Place blocks in front of the wheels and place blocks behind the wheels.

  3. Engage the parking brake.

  4. Remove dust cap (2). Attach Tooling (A) or Tooling (B) to the fitting.

Test Procedure

  1. Be sure that the transmission control lever is in the NEUTRAL position. Start the engine and run the engine at high idle.

  2. At high idle, the pressure should be 2760 ± 50 kPa (400 ± 10 psi).

Adjustment Procedure

  1. If the pressure is more than 2760 ± 50 kPa (400 ± 10 psi), remove cover (4) and turn adjustment screw (3) counterclockwise until pressure reaches 2760 ± 50 kPa (400 ± 10 psi).

  2. If the pressure is less than 2760 ± 50 kPa (400 ± 10 psi), remove cover (4) and turn adjustment screw (3) clockwise until pressure reaches 2760 ± 50 kPa (400 ± 10 psi).

  3. Once the indicated pressure has been reached, release and engage the parking brake again. If the pressure reading has changed, repeat step 1 or step 2 until pressure reading reaches 2760 ± 100 kPa (400 ± 15 psi).

  4. Replace adjustment screw cover (4).

  5. Turn off the engine and remove the test equipment. Install dust cap (2).
