Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove

Usage:

973C 3RZ

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Hood - Remove".

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove line (1) from the oil cooler. Plug the line and cap the fitting on the oil cooler.

    Note: Drain any fluids from the hydraulic oil cooler into a suitable container.

  1. Remove line (2) from the bottom of the oil cooler. Plug the line and cap the fitting on the oil cooler.

  1. Remove bolts (3) and the washers from the right side of the oil cooler.

  1. Support the oil cooler. Remove bolts (4) and the washers from the oil cooler.

  1. Remove the oil cooler.
