Pressure Control Group (M) Pressure tap for pilot oil |
Note: When you are using a FT-1775 Transmission Test Cover in order to complete the maximum clutch pressure test, perform Step 1 through Step 7 and proceed to the next test. When you are using a FT-1775 Transmission Test Cover in order to complete the maximum primary clutch pressure test, perform Step 1 through Step 7 and proceed to the next test. Pilot pressure can be checked while the clutch pressures are checked.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from both the downshift solenoid and the upshift solenoid.
- Remove the solenoid guard and the large cover from the transmission case.
- Remove the plug from pressure tap (M) .
- Install a 3B-6552 Elbow in pressure tap (M). Connect a 3B-7282 Pipe Nipple with a 6V-4142 Unvalved Nipple to the elbow.
- Replace the large cover on top of the transmission case. In order to prevent the release of oil, use a piece of plastic or paper with the cover. In order to keep dirt out, use a piece of plastic or paper with the cover.
- Install the FT-1775 Transmission Test Cover in place of the large cover. Use four bolts that are evenly spaced.
Note: This step is used as an alternate step for Step 5.
- Engage the parking brakes. Start and operate the engine at LOW IDLE rpm with the transmission in NEUTRAL.
- The pressure on the gauge should be between 1725 ± 70 kPa (250 ± 10 psi).
- When the test is complete, stop the engine.

Selector Group (1) Neutralizer valve (2) Spacers (3) Priority reduction valve (M) Pressure tap for pilot oil |
Spacer Chart     | ||
Part Numbers for Spacers (2)     | Thickness     | Change in Pressure     |
5M-3492     | 0.25 mm (.010 inch)     |
17 kPa (2 psi)     |
7M-1397     | 0.91 mm (.036 inch)     |
60 kPa (9 psi)     |
Note: Before adjustment is made, make sure that the valve spring is not weak or broken.
- If the pressure on the gauge is too low, the setting of priority reduction valve (3) is too low. Add spacers (2) and refer to Table 2.
- If the pressure on the gauge is too high, the setting of priority reduction valve (3) is too high. Remove spacers (2) and refer to Table 2.
- When the pressure on the gauge is correct and the pressure at all the clutches is 0 kPa (0 psi), the operation of neutralizer valve (1) is incorrect. Disassemble the selector group. Check for foreign material, worn parts or damaged parts. Make sure that the orifice and the ball check valve of neutralizer valve (1) are free of debris.
