NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
Note: The installation procedure is similar for the two cylinder, the three cylinder and the four cylinder engines. The illustrations show the four cylinder engine.
- Apply Tooling (A) to the joint (9). Install the joint (9) to the base of the rocker shaft assembly (8).
- Lubricate the pushrods (6) with clean engine oil. Install the pushrods (6) in the cylinder head (7). Ensure that the pushrods are installed correctly in the socket of the valve lifters.
Note: If the pushrods have been used, ensure that the pushrods are installed in original positions.
- Lubricate the top of the valve stems (5) with clean engine oil. Install the caps (not shown) on the top of the valve stems.
Note: If the caps have been used, ensure that the caps are installed in original positions.
- Lubricate the adjustment screws (3) on each rocker arm with clean engine oil before installation. Install the rocker shaft assembly (4) to the cylinder head (7).
Note: Ensure that the ends of the adjustment screws on each rocker arm are correctly seated in the ends of the pushrods (6).
- Install the setscrews (1) and the nuts (2).
- Evenly tighten the nuts (2).
Note: The tightening sequence moves from the center of the rocker shaft outward.
- For C0.5 and C0.7 engines, tighten the nuts (2) to a torque of
10 N·m (7.4 lb ft) .For 3011C, C1.1 and C1.6 engines, tighten the nuts (2) to a torque of
23 N·m (17 lb ft) .For 3013C, C1.5, 3024C, C2.2, 3024CT and C2.2T engines, tighten the nuts (2) to a torque of
33 N·m (24 lb ft) . - Tighten the setscrews (1) to a torque of
10 N·m (7.4 lb ft) . - Adjust the valve lash. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Valve Lash - Inspect/Adjust" for the correct procedure to adjust the valve lash.
