Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the assembly procedure, the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

- If two terminal bushings (21) were removed, use a suitable press and Tooling (B) (not shown) in order to install two terminal bushings (21) into the body assembly.
Note: The seams of two terminal bushings (21) should be indexed closest to the center of the body assembly.
Note: The tops of bearings (21) should protrude between 5.59 mm (0.22 inch) and 5.84 mm (0.23 inch).

- Coat the inside of the body assembly with clean hydraulic oil.
- Install backup ring (19), O-ring seal (17), and ring retainer (18) into body assembly (3) .
- Install bottom isolation plate (20) into body assembly (3) .
Note: Install bottom isolation plate (20) with the rounded edge toward the bottom of the body assembly.

- Install pressure plate (16) into body assembly (3) .
Note: Install pressure plate (16) with the bronze surface toward the drive shaft and the idler gear.

- Install idler gear (15) into body assembly (3) .
- Install drive shaft (14) into body assembly (3) .

- Install pressure plate (13) into body assembly (3) .
Note: Install pressure plate (13) with the bronze surface toward the drive shaft and the idler gear.

- Install backup ring (10), O-ring seal (9), and ring retainer (12) into body assembly (3) .
- Install top isolation plate (11) into body assembly (3) .

- Install O-ring seal (7) into flange assembly (1) .

- If necessary, install two dowels (5) into flange assembly (1) .
- Use Tooling (B) to install inner lip seal (4). Use Tool (A) to install retaining ring (6). Use Tooling (B) to install outer lip seal (4) .

- Install flange assembly (1) into body assembly (3) .

- Install eight bolts (2) that connect flange assembly (1) to body assembly (3) .
End By:
Install the gear pump for the steering and brake oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Steering and Brake Oil Cooler) - Install".
