Installation Procedure


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Use two persons to position hydraulic and steering pump (7) and the O-ring seal to the torque converter. The hydraulic and steering pump weighs 33 kg (73 lb). Install two bolts (10) and the washers that secure hydraulic and steering pump (7) to the torque converter. Position hose assembly (9) and the O-ring seal to hydraulic and steering pump (7). Install two half flanges, the washers and four bolts (8) that secure hose assembly (9) to hydraulic and steering pump (7). Position tube assembly (6) and the O-ring seal to hydraulic and steering pump (7). Install two half flanges, the washers and four bolts (5) that secure tube assembly (6) to hydraulic and steering pump (7) .

  1. Use a suitable hydraulic jack to position access plate (4) to the frame. The access plate weighs 200 kg (441 lb). Install 16 bolts (3) and the washers that secure access plate (4) to the frame. Remove the tooling from the access plate.

  1. Use a suitable hydraulic jack to position access plate (1) to the frame. The access plate weighs 75 kg (165 lb). Install 10 bolts (2) and the washers that secure access plate (2) to the frame. Remove the tooling from the access plate.

  1. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, RENR7184 for the appropriate oil and the correct amount of oil.
