Removal Procedure
- Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.
- Drain the hydraulic tank. Drain the fluid into a suitable container. The hydraulic tank has a capacity of 159 L (42 US gal).
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed. |
NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.
- Place a suitable hydraulic jack under access plate (1), as shown. Remove 10 bolts (2) and the washers that secure access plate (1) to the frame. Remove access plate (1) from the frame. The access plate weighs 75 kg (165 lb).

- Remove four bolts (5), the washers and two half flanges that secure tube assembly (6) to hydraulic and steering pump (7). Disconnect tube assembly (6) and the O-ring seal from hydraulic and steering pump (7). Remove four bolts (8), the washer and two half flanges that secure hose assembly (9) to hydraulic and steering pump (7). Disconnect hose assembly (9) and the O-ring seal from hydraulic and steering pump (7). Remove two bolts (10) and the washers that secure hydraulic and steering pump (7) to the torque converter. Use two persons to remove hydraulic and steering pump (7) and the O-ring seal from the torque converter. The hydraulic and steering pump weighs 33 kg (73 lb).
