Installation Procedure

1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Position the brake actuator to the machine. Install the washers and two nuts (4) that secure brake actuator (2) to the machine. Tighten nuts 4 to a torque of 135 ± 33 N·m (100 ± 24 lb ft). Position yoke assembly (3) to the slack adjuster. Install pin (6) that secures yoke assembly (3) to the slack adjuster. Install cotter pin (5) that secures pin (6) to yoke assembly (3) .

3. Adjust the slack adjuster. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Air System and Brakes" service manual for information on adjusting the slack adjuster. Tighten adjustment screw (7) that secures worm shaft (8) in the proper position.

4. Connect hose assemblies (1) to brake actuator (2) .
