Specification for the 213-4835 Piston and Rod Gp and 239-6144 Piston and Rod Gp
Item  Qty  Part  Specification Description
The 1U-6431 Piston Ring Groove Gauge Gp is used for measuring the ring grooves in keystone style pistons. Refer to the Special Instruction that is supplied with the piston ring groove gauge group.
The 5P-3519 Piston Ring Groove Gauge Gp is available for checking the ring grooves with straight sides. Refer to the Guideline for Reusable Parts for instructions on the piston ring groove gauge group.
223-9159 Top Piston Ring  Install the top piston ring with the side marked "Up-1" toward the top of the piston. Orient the purple stripe face to the right of the end gaps of the piston ring.
Clearance between the ends of the top piston ring in a cylinder liner bore of 145.0 mm (5.71 inch) is 0.40 ± 0.10 mm (0.016 ± 0.004 inch).
Increase in the clearance between the ends of the top piston ring for each 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore is 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
Thickness of new top piston ring is 3.845 mm (0.1514 inch).
238-2707 Piston Ring  Install the intermediate piston ring with the side marked "Up-2" toward the top of the piston. Orient the white stripe face to the right of the end gaps of the piston ring.
Clearance between the ends of the intermediate piston ring in a cylinder liner bore of 145.0 mm (5.71 inch) is 0.600 ± 0.125 mm (0.0236 ± 0.0049 inch).
Increase in the clearance between the ends of the intermediate piston ring for each 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore is 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
Thickness of new intermediate piston ring is 2.94 mm (0.116 inch).
246-5659 Piston Ring  The ends of the oil control piston ring should be at a distance of 180 degrees from the ring end gap when the oil control piston ring is assembled. The green stripe faces to the right or left of the piston ring end gap.
Clearance between the groove and the new oil control piston ring in a cylinder liner bore of 145.0 mm (5.71 inch) is 0.55 ± 0.15 mm (0.022 ± 0.006 inch).
Increase in the clearance between the ends of the oil control piston ring for each 0.03 mm (0.001 inch) increase in the cylinder liner bore is 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
Thickness of new oil control piston ring is 2.980 ± 0.010 mm (0.1173 ± 0.0004 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for oil control piston ring is 3.020 ± 0.010 mm (0.1189 ± 0.0004 inch).
180-7350 Piston Pin  Thoroughly lubricate the piston pin with clean engine oil before the piston pin is inserted into the piston body assembly and the rod assembly.
Outer diameter of the new piston pin is 59.975 ± 0.005 mm (2.3612 ± 0.0002 inch).
Inner diameter of the new piston pin is 25.4 ± 0.5 mm (1.00 ± 0.02 inch).
Length of the new piston pin is 89.80 ± 0.15 mm (3.535 ± 0.006 inch).
Bore in the new piston body assembly for the piston pin is 60.0925 ± 0.0075 mm (2.36584 ± 0.00030 inch).
150-1156 Special Bolt  Torque to 25 ± 6 N·m (221 ± 53 lb in)
Thoroughly lubricate the entire piston in zone (A) with clean engine oil prior to assembly into the cylinder block.
After the piston rings have been installed, rotate the piston rings so that the end gaps are 120 degrees from each other.
Refer to Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8049, "Pistons" and Guideline for Reusable Parts, SEBF8051, "Piston Pins and Retaining Rings".
