Fuel Filter (Primary) and Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install

Usage:

611 6SZ

Removal Procedure

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from a fire.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Shut off fuel supply valve (1) .

  1. Loosen bolt (2) and remove fuel filter (3) .

  1. Disconnect fuel lines (4) and (5). Remove two bolts (6) and remove filter base (7) from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position filter base (7) onto the engine and install two bolts (6). Connect fuel lines (4) and (5) .

  1. Position fuel filter (3) and tighten bolt (2) .

  1. Turn on fuel supply valve (1) .
