------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from grease and oil coming out of the relief valve.

Grease and oil are under high pressure coming out of the relief valve and can penetrate the body.

Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.

  1. Use the following steps to loosen the track.

    1. Turn relief valve (1) to one turn counterclockwise. This will permit the grease to be released from the vent hole that is below relief valve (1). If the track is not loosened, go to Step 1.b.

    1. Turn valve (2) to one turn counterclockwise. This will permit grease to be released from the vent hole that is below valve (2) .

    1. If the track does not loosen, start the machine and move the machine forward and backward. If the grease is not released go to Step 1.d.

    1. Install a slug that is 76.2 mm (3.00 inch) in diameter. The slug should have a length of 63.5 mm (2.50 inch) that is between the track and sprocket segment.

    1. Move the machine to the rear so that the track will be pushed up by the slug.

Note: The front idler and the track adjuster will move toward the rear of the track against the force of the recoil spring. This will push the grease out of the vent holes.
