966G Wheel Loader and 972G Wheel Loader Engine Supplement Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Note: Put identification marks on all electrical connectors for installation purposes.

1. Open the engine hood. The hood actuator is located on the right side of the machine.

2. Remove plug (1) from the center of the engine hood.

3. Install Tooling (A) in place of plug (1). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A) in order to support the hood.

4. Open cover (2) on the right rear of the machine.

5. Disconnect two electrical connectors (3) .

6. Remove ten bolts (4) which hold step (5) in place. Remove step (5) .

7. Remove pin (6) and the cotter pin which is not shown.

8. Remove screws (7) and remove cover (8) .

9. Remove bolt (9) and the washer. Remove hinge assembly (10) .

10. Remove hood actuator (11) .
