(1) The torque on the bolts should not exceed 542 N·m (300 lb ft) when the bolts are used to increase the width of the slot during pin removal or insertion.

  1. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the bore before installing seals (4) .

  1. Make sure that the OD of the collets, ID of the collets and the mating surfaces of the collets are clean. Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the ID of the collets (3). Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the bolt thread (2) .

  1. Tighten the bolt (2) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 950 N·m (700 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 1600 N·m (1180 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. Do step 7 for an optional installation procedure.

  1. Install the pins and collets. Press the collets to the pin with a 507,000 N (114,000 lb) force. Install the bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. After 50 hours of operation, apply a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft) to the bolt (2) .

Note: Tighten the bolt of the lift arm assembly to a torque of 800 ± 100 N·m (590 ± 75 lb ft) after the pin assembly is installed.

  1. Make sure that the bore of the pin is clean and free of grease before assembly. Make sure that the OD of the bearing is clean and free of grease before assembly.

  1. Align the dowels (8) in collets (6) with the holes in pin (7) .

  1. Orient the collet assembly with the plug on the top.

  1. Make sure that the collets (6) and the pin (7) are centered axially.

  1. Make sure that the OD of the collets, ID of the collets and the mating surfaces of the collets are clean. Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the ID of the collets (6). Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the bolt thread (5) .

  1. Tighten the bolt (5) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 950 N·m (700 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 1600 N·m (1180 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. Do step 10 for an optional installation procedure.

  1. Install the pins and collets. Press the collets to the pin with a 507,000 N (114,000 lb) force. Install the bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. After 50 hours of operation, apply a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft) to the bolt (5) .

Note: Tighten the bolt of the lift arm assembly to a torque of 890 ± 30 N·m (660 ± 20 lb ft) after the pin assembly is installed.

  1. Make sure that the bore of the pin is clean and free of grease before assembly. Make sure that the OD of the bearing is clean and free of grease before assembly.

  1. Align the dowels (12) in collets (10) with the holes in pin (11) .

  1. Orient the collet assembly with the plug on the top.

  1. Make sure that the collets (10) and the pin (11) are centered axially.

  1. Make sure that the OD of the collets, ID of the collets and the mating surfaces of the collets are clean. Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the ID of the collets (10). Apply 5P-3931 Thread Compound to the bolt thread (9) .

  1. Tighten the bolt (9) to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 950 N·m (700 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft). Strike the collets until the torque on the bolt is less than 1600 N·m (1180 lb ft).

  1. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. Do step 10 for an optional installation procedure.

  1. Install the pins and collets. Press the collets to the pin with a 507,000 N (114,000 lb) force. Install the bolt. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft).

  1. After 50 hours of operation, apply a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1330 ± 150 lb ft) to the bolt (9) .
