Final Drive Duo-Cone Seals {4050}

Usage:

D11R (9TR, 9XR) Track-Type Tractors

Reference: Service Manual Module, SENR1782, "Power Train Disassembly and Assembly".

Description of Change: Improved Duo-cone seals are now used in the final drives. The new 172-5093 Duo-cone Seals (8 degree) provide improved resistance to dirt entry into the final drive. Resistance to the entry of dirt will increase overall final drive service life.

Adaptable To: The new seals are effective with D11R (9TR459-Up, 9XR190-Up) Track-Type Tractors and Remanufactured final drives (0R8956 Sequence no. 17611). The new seals are adaptable to D11R (9TR1-458, 9XR1-189) Track-Type Tractors by reworking the final drive sprocket hub.

Use the following instructions to retrofit the new design into machines with the former design.

Final Drive Sprocket Hub

(A) 444.4 mm (17.50 inch)
(B) 43.01 ± 0.25 mm (1.693 ± .010 inch)

1. Remove the final drive from the machine. Use the disassembly procedure in SENR1782 for instructions.

2. Disassemble the final drive so that the final drive sprocket hub (160-5761) can be removed from the final drive support hub. (134-5994).

3. Machine the 160-5761 Hub to increase the depth of the 444.4 mm (17.50 inch) ? bore by 3.4 mm (.13 inch). The depth of the bore is increased from 39.61 ± 0.25 mm (1.559 ± .010 inch) to 43.01 ± 0.25 mm (1.693 ± .010 inch). See Illustration 1. No rework is necessary on the support hub.

4. Mark the hub with a new part number 175-7149.

5. Reassemble with the new 172-5093 Duo-cone Seal using the instructions in SENR1782.
