Thicker Layer Of Chrome Now Used On Governor Spring Guide To Extend Its Service Life{1264}

Usage:

Most Engines Equipped With Hydramechanical Governors, Except For Those With A Dashpot

Description of Change: The layer of chrome used on the spring guide in hydramechanical governors, except for those with a dashpot, has been increased to improve the service life of the guide. The increase is from a thickness of 0.008 - 0.013 mm (.0003 - .0005") to a minimum thickness of 0.06 mm (.002"). Formerly, contact between the spring seat and guide some times caused the chrome to wear through. After the chrome wears through, wear to the guide is rapid.

Adaptable As: The 8M8403 Spring Guides with the thicker layer of chrome are a direct replacement for earlier guides. The part number did not change. For identification, guides with the thicker layer of chrome have a groove in their seat. See the illustration.
