(1) Lip type seal
Do not lubricate the sealing lip.
(2) Rubber seal
(3) Ceramic ring
(4) Seal assembly
(5) Spring
Use the following procedure to install the rubber seal, the ceramic ring, the seal assembly, and the spring:
- Use the seal installation tool with hand pressure to install the rubber seal and the ceramic ring as a unit into the housing bore. Orient the polished face of the ceramic ring toward the carbon seal assembly that will be installed next.
Note: Only use clean water to lubricate the parts.
Note: The seal installation tool is part of the replacement seal assembly.
- Remove the spring from the seal assembly.
- Use the seal installation tool with hand pressure to install the seal assembly onto the shaft until the seal faces make light contact.
- Install the spring onto the seal assembly.
(6) O-ring seal
Lubricate the bore for the O-ring seal with engine oil or glycerin or clean water.
