A New Rear Housing Assembly is Available {1157}

Usage:

3056 1ML
Engines:
3054 (S/N: CSH204-UP; CYK217-UP; 4ZK8847-UP; 6FK5347-UP; 5YS11022-UP; 2PW502-UP)
3054B (S/N: 5MF1184-UP)
3056 (S/N: 7AK4359-UP; 1ML3113-UP; CKS340-UP; 7MS1286-UP; 3GW220-UP)

Description of Change: A new rear housing assembly with an integral crankshaft rear seal has been introduced for the above engines. The new rear housing assembly is manufactured as a one-piece unit. The engine block and the bridge piece have also changed in order to accommodate the new rear housing assembly.

Note: Engines that were built before the above serial numbers must use the 112-5540 Housing Assembly and the 4W-5360 Crankshaft Seal .

Adaptable To: The new rear housing assembly is NOT adaptable to earlier models. There are two types of the new rear housing assembly. The 209-9218 Housing Assembly is the standard version. The 211-7556 Housing Assembly is equipped with a dust cover. The 211-7556 Housing Assembly is used on engines with open flywheel housings. Both versions are available.

If a wear groove on the crankshaft flange has occurred, a 209-8228 Sleeve must be used when replacement of the rear housing assembly is required.

    (4) Alignment tool

    (5) Bolts

    Note: The crankshaft rear seal is lubricated. There is no need to lubricate the seal or the crankshaft flange before installation.

  1. Place rear housing assembly (3) on crankshaft flange (1) until the rear housing assembly contacts the cylinder block face. Plastic sleeve (2) will push out of the rear housing assembly. Discard the plastic sleeve after the rear housing assembly is installed.

  1. Place alignment tool (4) over rear housing assembly (3). This will center the rear housing assembly onto the crankshaft flange.

  1. Install bolts (5) with alignment tool (4) in position in order to fasten rear housing assembly (3) to the cylinder block. Tighten bolts 1 and 2 to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  1. Remove alignment tool (4). Tighten the remaining bolts in sequence to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
