Reference: See Engine News, SEBD9302, October 2001, "An Improved Taperlock Stud Is Used To Fasten The Main Bearing Cap To The Cylinder Block".

Description of Change: A new threaded collar is used in the stud tensioner tool group. The new collar allows increased engagement with the threads of the studs that fasten the main bearing cap to the cylinder block.

The 1W-0121 Taperlock Stud that fastens the main bearing cap to the cylinder block has been improved. See the Reference article. The improved taperlock stud requires the use of the new threaded collar for removing and/or installing the main bearing cap.

The new threaded collar must be used for removing and/or installing the main bearing cap when the improved taperlock stud is used. The new threaded collar can also be used with the former taperlock stud that had the square drive hole. The former threaded collar can not be used with the improved taperlock stud.

Adaptable To: The new 207-4607 Threaded Collar is a direct replacement for the former 4C-5817 Threaded Collar. The former threaded collar is cancelled. The new 207-4607 Threaded Collar is part of the 207-5034 Stud Tensioner Tool Group.
