Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the left rear access door.

  2. Turn battery disconnect switch (1) to the OFF position.

  3. Remove bolts (2) and plate assembly (3).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (5), ground strap (6), and cable assembly (4).

  5. Use two people in order to remove electric starting motor (7). The weight of electric starting motor (7) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb). Remove bolts (8) and electric starting motor (7).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install electric starting motor (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten ground strap (6) to a torque of 31 ± 4 N·m (23 ± 3 lb ft).

    2. Tighten cable assembly (4) to a torque of 31 ± 4 N·m (23 ± 3 lb ft).

    3. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (2).
