Typical clearance around the unit

The unit should have adequate clearance on all sides in order to allow proper airflow. Allow approximately 2 m (6.6 ft) of clearance on all sides.

  • Place the unit in a stable position.

  • Ensure that you use wheel chocks that are suitable for the trailer.

  • Unfasten the tow vehicle before you operate the unit.

------ WARNING! ------

Failure to close doors when the unit is operating can result in doors opening and closing at a high rate of speed. Contact with the doors may cause personal injury or death.

(1) Dual voltage distribution panel
(2) Single voltage distribution panel

The dual voltage distribution panel is equipped with both a HIGH voltage main circuit breaker and with a LOW voltage main circuit breaker. The circuit breakers are 240V and 480V. The panel is equipped with both a HIGH voltage main load connection and with a LOW voltage main load connection. The main load connections do not require a changeover or switching.

The single voltage distribution panel is equipped with a single voltage main circuit breaker. The circuit breaker is 600V. The single voltage distribution panel has a single voltage main load connection.

------ WARNING! ------

Contact with loose connectors can result in electrical shock and may cause injury or death.

NOTICE

Verify the correct load phase rotation with the generator prior to connecting the output power cables.

Note: The procedure for the load connection is illustrated by using a dual voltage distribution panel. All of the instructions are typical for both the dual voltage distribution panel and for the single voltage distribution panel.

  1. Ensure that the generator set is not operating. Place main circuit breakers (1) in the "OFF" position. The "OFF" position is the open position.

Dual voltage distribution panels can have two different voltages. Determine the voltage to use. Use either HIGH (480 V) or LOW (240 V) voltage. Select the applicable receptacles (2) or bus bars (3).

  2. Connect the output power cables to the receptacles (2) or to the bus bars (3).

If it is necessary to connect the output power cables to the bus bars:

    1. Loosen thumb screws (4) and open the door to the load connections. The shunt trips for the main circuit breaker are activated when the door is opened.

    2. Connect the output power cables to the appropriate bus bars (3). Tighten the bolts to the recommended torque. Refer to the torque specifications section of this manual.

    3. Close the door to the load connections and secure the door with thumbscrews (4). The shunt trips for the main circuit breakers will activate if the door is not properly secured.

    4. Check the battery for the breakaway switch. Make sure that the battery is adequately charged. Check the battery charger and ensure that the output of the battery charger is 5 Amperes at 12 DCV.

    ------ WARNING! ------

Failure to connect the unit to a suitable grounding electrode can result in electrical shock and may cause injury or death.

  3. Connect the ground connection (6) to a suitable grounding electrode of no more than 25 ohms.

  4. Connect the control wiring (if equipped) for the automatic start/stop to the connection points for the remote start/stop (5).

  5. Close circuit breakers (1) after the connection is made and the engine is running.
