喷油器由卡箍 (3) 固定在位。 当摇臂 (2) 向下推动喷油器的顶部时燃油就开始喷射。 摇臂的移动由凸轮轴 (8) 通过挺柱组件 (7) 和控制杆 (4) 进行控制。 燃油喷射量由齿条 (5) 进行控制。 齿条的移动将会使固定到柱塞 (6) 上的齿轮进行旋转。 柱塞的旋转将会改变柱塞的有效行程。
喷油正时取决于两个因素。 这两个因素包括凸轮轴的角位置和柱塞的位置。 凸轮轴的角位置由发动机后部上的凸轮轴驱动齿轮进行控制。 使用螺钉 (1) 可以调整柱塞的位置。
