The information that follows describes the correct installation of the shims on the pin assembly between the boom foot and the upper frame. The correct installation of the shims on the pin assembly between the boom cylinder and the upper frame is also described. Refer to Table 1 for the list of the part numbers and shim thickness. Refer to the illustrations for the location and the orientation of the shims.

Shims For 324D, 325D, and 330D Excavators

(A) Metal shims

Plastic shims are required on both sides of the pin assemblies between the boom and the upper frame. Plastic shims are also required on both sides of the pin assemblies between the boom cylinders and the upper frame. Metal shims can be installed in order to maintain a 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) lateral movement. Refer to Illustration 1.

(B) Plastic shim

A plastic shim is required on the right hand side between the boom foot and the upper frame. Refer to Illustration 2.

A plastic shim is required on the left hand side between the boom foot and the upper frame. Metal shims can be installed in order to maintain a 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) lateral movement. Refer to Illustration 3.

Plastic shims are required for the pin assembly on the left hand side between the boom cylinder and the upper frame. For only the Gosselies- built models, metal shims may be installed. Refer to Illustration 4.

Shims For 345C Excavators

Metal shims are required on the left hand side between the boom foot and the upper frame in order to maintain a maximum lateral movement of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). Do not use plastic shims. Refer to Illustration 6.

Metal shims are required on the pin assemblies between the boom cylinders and the upper frame in order to maintain a maximum lateral movement of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). Do not use plastic shims. Refer to Illustration 7.
