- Lower the temperature of bearing cone (46) .

- Install bearing cone (46) .
- Install lip seal (45) .
- Use Tooling (D) in order to install retaining ring (44) .
- Raise the temperature of bearing cone (43) and install bearing cone (43) onto shaft (42) .

- Install bearings (41) and shaft (42) .
- Install shim (30) and bearing cone (29) .

- Lower the temperature of bearing cup (24) and install the bearing cup in head assembly (21) .

- Position head assembly (21) onto the pump housing.

- Use Tooling (A) in order to measure the distance between the head assembly and the pump housing.
- Take measurements at three equal intervals on the surface between the head assembly and the pump housing.
- The average of the three dimensions is zero to 0.050 mm (0.0020 inch).
- Shim (30) must be replaced or ground to this dimension.
- Install bolts (20) in head assembly (21). Tighten bolts (20) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

- Use Tooling (F), Tooling (G), and a screwdriver in order to check for end play in shaft (42). If end play exists in the shaft assembly, repeat Step 6.a until the correct dimension is reached.

- Remove bolts (20) and head assembly (21) .
- Remove bearing cone (29) and shim (30) from shaft (42) .
- Proceed with the assembly of the pump housing assembly.

- Use Tooling (A), Tooling (C), and a suitable press in order to install retaining ring (36) into barrel (35) .
- Install bearing (34) .

- Install retainers (9), spring (10), spool (11), backup ring (12), adapter (13), and cartridge assembly (14) .

- Install backup ring (7), O-ring seal (8), and valve (6) .
- Install spool (15), retainer (16), spring (17), spring (18), and valve (19) .
- Install O-ring seals (3), coil (4), and nut (5) .
