Main Control Valve - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the main control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Control Valve - Remove" in this manual.


NOTICE

Failure to properly assemble parts or failure to follow established procedures can lead to damage of the parts and assembly.

To avoid damage to parts, always identify and mark the parts so that they can be installed in the same location. Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly.


    Note: Keep all of the internal parts of the main control valve clean and lubricated.

  1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the main control valve prior to disassembly.

  1. Put the main control valve on wood blocks. The weight of the main control valve is approximately 204 kg (450 lb).

  1. Remove the remaining three hydraulic hoses (1) from the main control valve.

  1. Remove fittings (2) from the main control valve. Replace O-rings (3) .

  1. Remove two plugs (4) and plug (5). Replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove plug (6) and replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove spring (7), retainer (8) and ball (9) from the main control valve.

  1. Remove five plugs (10) from the front of the main control valve. Remove spring (12) and valve (13) from the valve body. Remove the O-rings from the plugs. Replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove plugs (11). Remove spring (14) and valve (15). Remove the O-rings from the plug. Replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove two plugs (16) and replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove two plugs (17) and replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove two valves (18) on each end of the main control valve.

  1. Disassemble valve (18). Remove O-ring (21), poppet (19), spring (22), and valve (20) .

  1. Remove two bolts (25) and housing (23). Remove O-ring (26). Repeat for the remaining six housings (24) .

  1. Remove two valves (27). Remove plug (28) .

  1. Remove lower housing (29), O-ring (30) and O-ring (31) from the lower housing.

  1. Remove valve (37) .

  1. Remove sleeve (40) from valve (37). Remove backup ring (36) and O-ring (35) from the sleeve.

  1. Remove valve (39) from the sleeve. Remove springs (34) and (38) .

  1. Remove O-ring (33) and backup ring (32) from valve (27) .

  1. Replace O-ring (41) .

  1. Remove cap (42). Replace O-ring (45) .

  1. Remove rod (43), spring (46) and spring (44) from the main control valve.

  1. Remove spool (47) .

  1. Remove fitting (50). Replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove four bolts (48) and housing (49) .

  1. Remove four small O-rings (51) from housing (49) .

  1. Remove plug (53) and replace the O-ring. Remove spring (52) .

  1. Remove fitting assembly (54) .

  1. Replace the O-ring. Remove spring (59), valve (56) and spring (58) from housing (55) .

  1. Remove snap ring (60) and housing (55). Replace two O-rings (61) .

  1. Remove plug (65) and replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove six socket head bolts (63) and two housings (62) .

  1. Remove coupler (64) and replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove four O-rings (66) and replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove check valve (67) .

  1. Remove backup ring (70), O-ring (71), O-ring (69), backup ring (68), backup ring (72), O-ring (73), and backup ring (74) .

  1. Replace backup ring (70), O-ring (71), O-ring (69), backup ring (68), backup ring (72), O-ring (73), and backup ring (74) .

  1. Remove eight housings (75). Replace O-rings (76) .

    Note: Make sure that identification marks are placed on all spool assemblies for installation purposes. Spool assemblies must be installed in the assembly's original location in order to ensure correct operation. Do not mix the components of the spool assemblies.

  1. Remove eight spool assemblies (77) .

  1. Disassemble the spool assembly. Remove bolt (81), retainer (80), spring (83), spring (79), and retainer (82) from spool (78) .

    Note: The example of the disassembly is for a single spool assembly. The disassembly of all of the spool assemblies is identical.

  1. Remove fitting (86). Replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove four socket head bolts (84), and remove housing (85). Replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove pressure switch (88). Remove two socket head bolts (87) and housing (89) .

  1. Replace O-ring (90) .

  1. Remove spool assembly (91). Repeat Step 41 in order to disassemble spool assembly (91) .

  1. Remove four valves (92) .

    Note: Follow Step 16 through Step 20 in order to disassemble four valves (92) .

  1. Remove plug (93). Replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove O-ring (95) from valve (94). Remove lower housing (102). Remove valve (99), piston (101), spring (98) and spring (100) from the lower housing.

  1. Remove O-ring (97) and backup ring (96) from the valve (94) .

  1. Remove plug (103). Replace the O-ring.

  1. Remove ten plugs (104) and the check valves from the back of the main control valve. Replace the O-rings.

  1. Remove eight bolts (105), and separate the main control valve in three separate sections.

  1. Remove O-rings (106) from the left and the right sections of the main control valve. Replace the O-rings.
