3500 FAMILY OF ENGINES, CATERPILLAR MACHINES POWERED BY 3500 ENGINESProblem:
The nut that fastens the water pump impeller to the water pump shaft may NOT have been properly tightened on some of these water pumps. This could allow the impeller to slip on the shaft. The result could be reduced water pump efficiency that could lead to engine overheating.
Solution:
Check all stocks of Remanufactured 0R-9670, 0R-9671, 0R-9672, and 0R-9673 Water Pumps to be sure that the impeller retaining nut is tightened to 200 ( 25 N·m (150 ( 18 lb ft). See the illustration.
