Clarification Of Service Letter PI3208 Caterpillar

Clarification Of Service Letter PI3208

Usage:

EXCAVATORS5230 (7LL1-62) EXCAVATORS

Problem:

The implementation of Service Letter PI3208 may produce questions. The 148-0281 Valve Group does not need to be present to implement Service Letter PI3208. The 148-0281 Valve Group is shown in Illustration 13 of the Service Letter.

Solution:

Two solutions are available. One solution involves machines with two valve blocks and one power shift solenoid on the front wall of the pump room. The other solution involves machines with two valve blocks and two power shift solenoids on the front wall of the pump room. These solutions supplement Steps 14 and 15 and Illustration 13 of the Service Letter.

Machines With Two Valve Blocks And One Power Shift Solenoid

1. Install 134-0426 Power Shift Pressure Sensor (1) to the pump room wall.
2. Connect the power shift pressure sensor to the power shift solenoid with 3J-7354 Seal (2) and 149-3006 Adapter (3). Refer to Illustration 1.

Machines With Two Valve Blocks And Two Power Shift Solenoids

1. Install 134-0426 Power Shift Pressure Sensor (1) to the pump room wall.
2. Remove the pump signal line from the bottom of one of the power shift solenoids. Remove the line above the pressure tap. Remove the adapter and seal from the bottom of the power shift solenoid.
3. Install 6V-8781 Tee (4) and 3J-1907 Seal (5) in the bottom of the power shift solenoid. Connect the pressure tap and the pump signal line to the tee.
4. Install 6V-9850 Elbow (6) and 6V-8397 Seal (7) to the tee.
5. Install 131-6802 Tube Assembly (8) and 6V-8397 Seal (7) to the elbow.
6. Install 149-3006 Adapter (3) and 6V-8397 Seal (7) to the tube assembly.
7. Connect the power shift pressure sensor to the adapter with 3J-7354 Seal (2). Refer to Illustration 2.
