在流量为 8 ± 2 L/min (2.1 ± 0.5 US gpm) 时，备用安全阀的压力设定值是 27580 ± 345 kPa (4000 ± 50 psi)。 转向系统中的其它部件将阻止压力到达此数值。 利用试验台测试以实现准确的压力测试。 在进行任何调整之前，必须拆下备用安全阀并在试验台上进行测试。

可以在机器上进行安全阀的功能测试。
- 从端口 (2) ，端口 (3) 和端口 (5) 拆下液压油管路。
- 使用工具 (A) 封锁三个端口。
注: 步骤 2 防止转向蓄能器在测试期间被充满。
- 将工具 (A) 或工具 (B) 连接至端口 (4) 。 施加压力。
注: 流量为 1.6 L/min (0.4 US gpm) 时，24000 至 25000 kPa (3480 至 3630 psi) 的压力读数为可接受的压力读数。 泵供油无法产生所要求的必要机油流量来精确检查备用安全阀。
注: 端口 (1) 无须封锁。 位于端口 (1) 的单向阀用于防止机油回流至泵。
按照下列步骤更改备用安全阀 (8) 的压力设定值：
- 松开螺母 (6) 。
注: 备用安全阀 (8) 必须在试验台上进行调整。
- 顺时针转动调整螺钉 (7) 以增大压力设定值。
- 逆时针转动调整螺钉 (7) 以减小压力设定值。
注: 调整螺钉 (7) 转动一圈将使压力设定值变化 4730 kPa (686 psi)。
- 逆时针转动调整螺钉 (7) 以减小压力设定值。
