Usage:
1. Remove the two bolts that hold the pilot pump to the main hydraulic pump. Remove the pilot pump from the main hydraulic pump. Remove the O-ring seal from the pilot pump.
2. Thoroughly clean the outside of the pilot pump. Put an alignment mark across flange (1), center plate (3) and end cover (4) for assembly purposes.
NOTE: During disassembly of the pilot pump, put identification marks on the parts for assembly purposes.
3. Remove four bolts (2) that hold the pilot pump together. Separate flange (1), center plate (3) and end cover (4). Remove the two dowels from the end cover.
4. Remove idler gear (5), pressure plate (7) and O-ring seal (6) from the end cover.
5. Remove drive gear (8) and pressure plate (10) from the flange.
6. Remove nylon gasket (11), the paper gasket and seal (9) from the flange.
7. Turn the flange over. Remove the retaining ring with tool (A); then remove the lip-type seal from the flange.
Assemble Pilot Pump
NOTICE |
---|
Check the condition of the bushings in the end cover and the flange. If the bushings are worn or damaged, the end cover and flange should be replaced. |
1. Thoroughly clean all parts of the pump prior to assembly. Put clean hydraulic oil on all parts during assembly.
2. Install lip-type seal (1) in flange (3) with tool (A). Install the seal with the lip facing towards the gears in the pump and until it is just below the retaining ring groove in the flange. Install retaining ring (2) with tool (B).
3. Turn flange (3) over. Check the condition of the seal, paper gasket and the nylon gasket. If the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Install seal (4), paper gasket (5) and nylon gasket (6) as shown.
4. Install two dowels (8) in the flange. Install center plate (7). Be sure the mark made on the flange and center plate during disassembly are in alignment with each other.
5. Install pressure plate (9) with the bronze side facing the gears and trap slot (10) facing the outlet side.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not drop the drive gear or idler gear in place. The gears can damage the bronze pressure plate. |
6. Install drive (13) and idler gear (11). Install pressure plate (14) with the bronze side facing the gears and trap slot (12) facing the outlet side.
7. Install O-ring seal (15) in end cover (16). Install the end cover. Be sure the mark made on the end cover during disassembly is in alignment with the mark on the center plate and flange. Install the four bolts that hold the pump together.
8. Turn the shaft of the drive gear. The shaft will be tight, but it should turn by hand.
9. Check the condition of the O-ring seal used on the pilot pump. If the seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement. Install the O-ring seal on the pilot pump.
10. Put the pilot pump in its original position on the main hydraulic pump. Install the two bolts that hold it. Tighten the two bolts to a torque of 44 ± 1 N·m (32 ± 1 lb ft)
