Axle model number PRLC1736RSH206 with a following serial number: 433718, 450814, 458685, 458686, 458687, 458688, 470107, 470108, 480311, 480312, 483546, 483547, 483548, 488527, 488528, 499516, 499517.
If you find a combination of one of the above models and serial numbers proceed with changing axle spindles.
- Before starting any work inspect the rear axle housing for the supplier model number and corresponding serial number. Rear axles with any of the above combination of models and serial numbers require a spindle replacement. See Illustration 1 and 2 for the location of the model and serial number plate. The identification plate is located on the left side of the axle differential facing the front of the machine.
- Position the machine on a level surface, set the parking brake, and block the wheels.
NOTE: Use blocking to support the rear of the machine before removing the tires. Carefully remove the tire and rim assembly from the axle. The approximate weight of the tire and rim is 712 kg (1570 lb). It is best to have the tire about six inches off the ground before removing it.
NOTE: Remove the tires using the proper tire handling equipment. Refer to RENR4017, tire and rim removal/install.
- Remove the axle spindle following the procedure in RENR4017, axle disassemble (non-steered axle), Steps 1 through 9.
- Replace the spindle using the procedure in RENR4017.
- Replace the 0988956 Seal on the hub using the following procedure:
- Install used bearing cups in hub.
- Apply "black" permatex sealant to the outside diameter of the seal.
- Press seal into hub insuring that it is square.
- Lubricate the inner diameter surface of the seal.
- Place the bearing cones into the cups.
- Slide the hub onto the spindle as an assembly using the bearings to keep everything square.
- Use the bearing nut to draw the hub assembly and seal into position.
- Use RENR4017, axle-assemble (non-steered axle) procedure to finish the spindle installation, beginning at Step 6.
- Repeat the procedure for the other spindle.
- Verify that the fluid levels in the axle are correct.
- Return the machine to service.
