Rear Power Take-Off (RPTO) - Remove and Install
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the flywheel housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel Housing - Remove and Install" .

- Remove gear assembly (1) .

- Remove bronze thrust washer (2) .

- Remove two dowel pins (3) . Remove bearing sleeve (4) .

- Remove bronze thrust washer (5) from the flywheel housing. Remove two dowel pins (6) .

- Remove seat (7) and bearing sleeve (8) from the flywheel housing.

- Remove two bolts (11) , shaft (10) and the two O-rings. Remove idler gear (9) . Remove the bearing from idler gear (9) .

- Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the O-ring seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
- Use Tool (A) and install the bearing in idler gear (9) . The bearing must not project beyond either face.

- Install the two O-ring seals, shaft (10) , idler gear (9) and two bolts (11) . Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the threads of the two bolts (11) prior to installation. Tighten two bolts (11) to a torque of 135 ± 15 N·m (100 ± 11 lb ft) .
- Use Tool (A) and install bearing sleeve (8) and seal (7) in the flywheel housing.

- Install two dowel pins (6) . Install bronze thrust washer (5) in the flywheel housing.

- Coat bearing sleeve (4) with clean engine oil. Use Tool (A) and install bearing sleeve (4) . Install two dowel pins (3) .
