Start By:

  1. Remove Piston Pump (Hydraulic fan).

  1. Be sure that the outside of the piston pump is cleaned prior to disassembly.

  2. Remove bolts (1), valve group (2), and the gasket from the piston pump.

  3. Remove bolts (3) and head assembly (4) from pump body (5).

  4. Remove head assembly (4) from pump body (5).

  5. Remove O-ring seal (6) and control plate (7) from head assembly (4).

  6. Remove bearing cup (8).

  7. Remove O-ring seal (9).

  8. Remove bearing cone (10) from the shaft.

  9. Remove adjustment shim (11).

  10. Remove plug (12).

  11. Remove O-ring seal (13) from plug (12).

  12. Carefully place the pump in a horizontal position.

  13. Remove rotating group (14).

  14. Remove piston assemblies (15) and the retainer from barrel assembly (16).

  15. Remove retaining ball (17) from barrel assembly (16).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.

    To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.


  16. Use a suitable press and Tooling (A) to compress spring (20) in barrel assembly (16).

  17. Remove retaining ring (21) from barrel assembly (16).

  18. Remove spring (20), guide (19), and pins (18) from barrel assembly (16).

  19. Remove control piston (22).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


    Note: To release piston rod (23) from the swashplate, lift the swashplate a little and move the piston rod sideways.

  20. Remove piston rod (23).

  26. Remove plugs (30) and the O-ring seals from pump body (5).

  27. Remove bearing cup (31) from pump body (5).

  28. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove bearing cone (32) from shaft assembly (27).
