Start By:

  1. Remove the cab.

  2. Remove the left side ladder and walkway.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove bolts (1) and the washers. Remove bearing assembly (2).

  3. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to support assembly (6). The weight of support assembly (6) is approximately 141 kg (310 lb).

  4. Remove bolts (3), bolts (4), and bolts (6), and the washers. Use Tooling (B) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove support assembly (6).

  5. Remove panel (7).

  6. Loosen clamp (11). Disconnect hose (12) from hydraulic tank (13).

  7. Remove bolts (8) and bolts (9). Remove panel (10).

  8. Disconnect hose assemblies (14).

  10. Disconnect hose assembly (16) from the back of hydraulic tank (13).

  11. Disconnect hoses (17).

  12. Cut all cable straps (18) that secure the harness assembly to hydraulic tank (13).

  13. Disconnect harness assembly (19) from the back of the hydraulic tank.

  14. Remove bolts (20). Set engine electronic control module (21) to the side.

  15. Disconnect tube assembly (25).

  16. Remove bolt (22) and clamps (24). Set breather assembly (24) out of the way.

  17. Disconnect hose assembly (23), hose assemblies (27), and hose assembly (28).

  18. Remove clamps (29).

  19. Disconnect hose assemblies (30) from the bottom of hydraulic tank (13).

  20. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic tank (13). The weight of hydraulic tank (13) is approximately 185 kg (410 lb).

  21. Remove bolts (31) and bracket assembly (32). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  22. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to remove hydraulic tank (13).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install hydraulic tank (13) in the reverse order of removal.
