This article replaces Service Magazine SEPD0313, 7/1/96; Page 16; "New Cleanout Filters Available for Hydraulic Systems and Drive Trains".

New cleanout filters are available for quick, efficient removal of contaminants from hydraulic systems and drive trains. The new filters outperform standard filters and fire resistant elements formerly used as a cleanout option.

Benefits

* Quick removal of fine particles.
* Reduced exposure and concentration of abrasives to critical components (pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and seals, etc.).
* Reduced wear of critical components.
* Longer wear life of critical components.
* Extended oil life.

Features

* A special filter, a blend of synthetic and paper media.
* The filter element is rated at 6 microns.

NOTICE

NOTICE Flush system completely before using new cleanout filters to clean hydraulic systems that have had a major component failure. Use new cleanout filters when the Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) program shows an unacceptable contamination level or the particle count is above acceptable limits. If elevated particle counts continue, find the source and correct the problem. For trucks, the cleanout filters should be replaced after 8 hours of use. Limit the use of all new cleanout filters to 250 hours. Do not use new cleanout filters in systems that uses fire resistant fluid (water glycol). Water glycol will break down the filter element and system contamination will occur. Use the standard fire resistant filters.
