Screw Terminal Pressure Switches Replaced By Switches With A Deutsch® DT Connector {1400}

Usage:

Machines Using 3T-4418, 6C-1858, 6T-7663, 7T-0988, 8T-9815, 9W-0263, And 9W-3187 Switches

Reference: Special Instruction, SEHS9615, Servicing DT Connectors.

Description of Change: To improve reliability, serviceability, and to reduce service inventories, switches with screw terminals are being replaced by switches with wire leads and a DT connector.

Adaptable To: The chart lists new switches which directly replace the former switches except that a Deutsch® plug (DT) must be installed on the machine wiring harness. To retrofit a new switch to a machine using one of the former switches, cut the previous connector off the machine harness and install a mating DT connector. This will allow the machine to use the new switch in the future without any other harness modifications. For each switch changed, a 102-8807 Plug Kit and two 8T-8730 Sockets will need to be installed to make up the DT connector on the machine harness. The individual connector parts are also available in a 9U-7246 Kit. A 1U-5804 Crimp Tool is needed to crimp the terminals on the harness wires.

Special Instruction, SEHS9615 has detailed instructions on servicing DT connectors. When the installation of the DT connector on the machine harness is complete, secure the mated DT connectors to the machine with a 3S-2093 Tie-Wrap. Tighten the tie-wrap by hand or use a 4C-5877 Tool which tightens and cuts off the excess tie strap at the same time.
