Usage:
3508 ( 23Z, 1ZF ),
3512 ( 3YF, 24Z ),
3516 ( 4XF, 25Z ) Generator Set Engines
Description of Change: Several improvements have been made to reduce vibration and part failure in the radiator group for these engines. The following improvements will increase the service life of the radiator group.
...New bolt-on left hand and right hand stabilizer brackets. The former brackets were welded in place. Under extreme vibration conditions, the weld could crack. When this happened, the brackets were sometimes difficult to repair or replace.
...A new plenum box assembly with side channels. The side channels are needed to accommodate the stabilizer brackets in order to correct bracket failure.
...A pipe with a larger outside diameter. This improvement changes the natural frequency of the pipe brace to reduce vibration.
...A new venturi plate with slots cut in each side. The slots provide clearance for the new stabilizer brackets.
...Additional hardened washers and bolts to allow for the assembly of the new components to the radiator group.
Adaptable To: See the chart for the new and former part numbers. The part number for the improved 9Y6675 Basic Radiator Group has not changed. This change is effective with 3508 (23Z2571, 1ZF489), 3512 (24Z2716, 3YF371), and 3516 (25Z1611, 4XF268) Engines. This change is adaptable to first production.
