An Improved Platform Assembly is Now Used in the Platform Group on 793F Off-Highway Trucks {7253}

Usage:

793F XQ SND
Off-Highway Truck/Tractor:
793F (S/N: SND1-UP; SSP1-UP)

Description of Change:

ReferenceSpecial Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures"A new plate is now used in the platform assembly that is part of the platform group. The new plate will better support the bottom mounting holes on the air cleaner mounting structure. The new plate will improve the service life of the air cleaner mounting structure.

Adaptable To:

Illustration 1g02726731

Illustration 2g02726734

The new 371-7766 Plate (1) supersedes the former 330-0739 Plate (2) in the 300-4166 Platform. The 300-4166 Platform is part of the 278-8406 Platform Gp .

The new 371-7766 Plate became effective in production with the machine SSP509-UP, and SND115-UP.

Illustration 3g02726705

The new 371-7766 Plate (1) is not a direct replacement for the former 330-0739 Plate (2). New plates can be manufactured, and welded to the bottom mounting holes on the air cleaner mounting structure to strengthen the structure in the earlier machines.

Refer to Illustration 3 for location (3) of new plates that can be welded to the bottom mounting holes on the air cleaner mounting structure to strengthen the structure. Use the following procedure to update machines SSP1-508, and SND1-114.

    ------ WARNING! ------

Protect yourself and others; read and understand this warning. Fumes and gases can be dangerous to your health. Ultraviolet rays from the weld arc can injure eyes and burn skin. Electric shock can kill.

Read and understand the manufacturer's instruction and your employer's safety practices. Keep your head out of the fumes. Use ventilation, exhaust at the arc, or both, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing zone and the general area. Wear correct eye, ear and body protection. Do not touch live electric parts.

Refer to the American National Standard Z49.1, "Safety in Welding and Cutting" published by the American Welding Society, 2501 N.W. 7th Street, Miami, Florida 33125: OSHA Safety and Health Standards, 29 CFR 1910, available from U.S. Dept. of Labor, Washington D.C. 20210.

    ----------------------

Note: Personal breathing protection should be worn by the personnel that are welding. Personal breathing protection will prevent fumes from entering the lungs of the person that is welding. Use a 1U-8088 Type H Respirator for breathing protection.

  1. Weld plates (5) and plate (6) to the platform group as shown in Illustration 7.
