This Special Instruction contains the information for installing the 364-1356 Quick Coupler Conversion Kit (Hydraulic) on the listed machines. This instruction should be read and understood before you begin installation of this kit. Also obtain the Operation and Maintenance Manual and the Disassembly and Assembly Manuals for instructions that are referenced herein.
Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs. A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools in order to perform these functions properly.
Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this instruction and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons.

Preparing the Machine
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil. Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system. Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. |
- Park the machine.
Note: Refer to "Machine Parking" in the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.
- Release hydraulic system pressure.
Note: Refer to "Release Procedure (Hydraulic System Pressure)" in the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for your machine.
Disassembling the Manual Coupler
- Perform Step 2 through Step 5 in order to remove mechanical lock group (A) from the quick coupler.

NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide"for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations. |
